”Along our experience working with several companies and institutions, we have noticed that some complications are repeated in the implementation process of the SparxEA solution. This sometimes happens because we do not have a working model that allows a gradual and incremental incorporation of the solution, taking into account the type of organization and its maturity stage at the moment of starting the implementation.
We will see 3 recurring difficulties and how to solve them:
- Inconveniences to reuse all existing information.
- Impossibility of keeping the models updated over time
- Poor collaboration between the modelers and the rest of the stakeholders.
We will share real cases and ways in which these difficulties were successfully solved.”
1.Model RestFul services -direct engineering-.
2.Generate OpenAPI specification in json format.
3.Import OpenAPI services in json format -reverse engineering-.
OpenAPI is very broad and flexible which makes that taking that specification to a model in EA is not something simple, besides the elements available for modeling are limited because we follow a simple model of classes, interfaces, operations, parameters and returns.
Therefore, we want to share a solution that helps to make these models in a simple, intuitive and productive way. In addition, we will present how the json/yaml is generated.
Also, we will present the model generated by importing an OpenAPI specification.
Day 1-2022
Expanding your use of EA can be tricky. New user populations probably don't have your experience, so just buying them some more licences will probably just create chaos. Why do they want to use EA?
Modelling, but the right way or How to Succeed with your Modelling Approach Part 2
Prolaborate is the sharing, collaboration and analytics component of the Sparx Architecture Platform. the real value of the comprehensive model information created using Sparx EA is manifested when its presented to the wider non-EA community in a curated and easy to understand manner. Prolaborate is carefully designed to achieve this. The training session will give a comprehensive overview of the capabilities, with step by step walkthrough on setting up the required views and viewpoints in Prolaborate to cater to different stakeholders. The training will also give a hands-on overview of consuming model diagrams, reports, dashboards and participating in reviews and discussions to share feedback on model information to enable the wider, overarching teams
There are specific problems that need to be solved with specific solutions. Addins and scripting are very useful tools to achieve those value solutions that the client often needs. In this workshop we will teach you 2 specific cases
Day 2-2022
Sparx Systems has been a market leader for more than 22 years by watching the market trends closely. In this session we will discuss the features of Enterprise Architect 16 that facilitate collaborative modeling, advancements in Pro Cloud Server to enable a seamless integrated platform, revamp and redesign of Prolaborate to foster Collaboration and Sharing. Further to that we will look into the new EA SaaS offering, a fully cloud-based, ready-to-use platform that enables customers to start their architecture journey on the cloud or transition their current infrastructure to the cloud.
What are the differences between diagramming tools and modeling tools? One of the differences is that modeling tools can 'connect' diagrams.Traceability is a valuable connection in the model. I will introduce the benefits of Traceability and how to define Traceability by using Enterprise Architect.
Advance your modeling skills and get productivity gains from Enterprise Architect with tips and tricks gleaned from more than two decades of consulting, mentoring, and training.
Many of us need to manage multiple changes being developed by several projects working in the same EA model at the same time. But how can we maintain order, have clear version control, and avoid costly rework? Ian will review the available options and introduce a new approach for managing multiple projects in the same model, which also delivers insights to the wider business, with impact analyses and visibility of project dependencies. And he will demonstrate a time machine...
Sigma is a Systems engineering Workbench where engineers and technical management can work together during the System Life-cycle.
Many organisations work in multiple teams utilising shared assets for individual teams as well as global assets shared by all teams. If a single repository is used for all teams and all assets, controlling visibility and access to these assets becomes very problematic. Although not a new feature of Enterprise Architect, the Reusable Asset Service (RAS), provides a solution to managing assets for multiple teams. This presentation describes the issues with sharing assets in a single repository and the solution using a RAS. The description of the RAS will describe the infrastructure required as well as the structure and use of a RAS. The presentation will conclude with a demonstration of multiple projects using a single RAS. This demonstration will be presented using EA version 16 64 bit.

Many organisations are searching for opportunities to become data driven. However for introducing a data driven approach you have to gain an overview of the data relevant for the organisation. The Data Management Body of Knowledge is a great framework for data management. Sparx Enterprise Architect is a great tool for creating data management models, and configure this tool for introducing a Data Management Register.
We present a maturity model that has been valid and in force for almost 10 years and has been used by numerous Latin American companies, of various sectors and sizes, to successfully activate and adopt the Sparx solution.Aimed at those who tried to implement the Enterprise Architect solution in their company and did not achieve the expected results, or for those who want to start the way of adopting this powerful family of Sparx Systems products and do not know what steps to take to achieve it.
As the world emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic, organizations are making the transition to a “new normal” Architects play an important role in enabling this transition. Earlier this year, a survey was conducted to assess the “State of Enterprise Architecture” and understand the trends and forces impacting individual architects, architecture practices and organizations seeking to leverage architecture to support their business transitions. In this session, Ryan Schmierer, VP of Operations from Sparx Services North America will be presenting a summary of the survey findings along with some insights about what the responses mean to Architecture leaders, IT practitioners and consultants in the Sparx Systems Community. You will have an opportunity in this session to contribute your thoughts as well and engage in a Q&A session about the important issues that impact your team and your stakeholders.
Over the past few years, the focus of architecture work has been shifting away from architecture design towards architecture analysis. Many organizations are looking to the Sparx Systems Architecture Platform to serve as the hub to integrate data from distributed systems of record and map the “connective tissue” that is essential to understanding how the organization functions. In this session, Chris Armstrong and Ryan Schmierer from Sparx Services North America will be discussing the growing trend around architecture analysis, the role integrated data plays in developing architecture insights, and the opportunities and challenges of integrating the Sparx Systems Architecture Platform with other systems of record.
Day 1-2021

Digital Engineering is the key element of an emerging paradigm: “Rather than just building better systems, it builds systems better”. Architects need to embrace this disruptive agility in order to remain competitive in an ever-innovating global business environment. Digital engineering is a fundamental part of the US government’s architecture and modern systems development methodology. Giu will be sharing his experience working with one of the leading government research organizations over the past year to demonstrate the role architecture can play in making digital engineering successful.
Aspect-oriented software development brings us many benefits, allowing us to build more understandable, reusable, flexible, extensible systems, reducing development costs and complexity, and EA can give us full support for this paradigm.
The need to go agile is obvious – but how can this work using models? We will take a closer look at how Sparx EA teams can achieve the best of both worlds, granular versioning using Lemon Tree and enterprise collaboration and stakeholder reviews using Prolaborate.
Executable models are the foundation of agile systems engineering. They provide a means for systems engineers to minimize the ambiguity prevalent in text-based specifications, along with the verification necessary to ensure specifications are complete, consistent, and correct.

Today, enterprise architecture is usually organized following empiric approximations that are inherited from the nineties and that are unfortunately leading to recurrent failures. Labnaf features, instead, a precise and intuitive framework organization that is based on systems semantics, and that is used by Prolaborate to provide enterprise analytics and visualization at large scale.
I will present how we work with UML and MDA in our Harmonized UML Model, and how the models are implemented in tools for geospatial information.
As with many organizations, PayPal is looking to simplify the core applications that run their business and integrate acquired companies into those core applications. Those applications are grouped into different, internal platforms that represent shared services that are used by their commercial products delivered via their website, mobile applications, and merchant APIs. Executive management required a business-oriented lens to understand the current state, inform planning and funding, and track progress towards the target architecture. The Enterprise Architecture practices at PayPal responded by working with executive stakeholders and platform teams to synthesize a capability-based view of their common and foundational platforms to support this enterprise-wide transformation effort. This presentation will review the approach the EA team employed, initial outcomes, and continuing plans.

An MDG Technology for adding attributes to manage requirements for systems and software engineering projects.
Because UML does not define a requirement element type, Enterprise Architect includes one in the Core Extensions set of elements. SysML includes a requirement element type that expands the EA type with two attributes. In the Guide for Writing Requirements, the INCOSE Requirements Working Group has defined a further expansion of the numbers and types of attributes that need to be considered in requirements engineering. In the software arena, Karl Wiegers has written extensively about software requirements and what you need to know about them. This presentation describes an MDG Technology that addresses the INCOSE recommendations and maps them to Wiegers' recommendations for attributes to capture about your requirements. We will explore both the creation and the use of the extended requirement elements.

introducing SAFe, a practical approach towards agile architecture, the importance of modeling and tool support, and how Sparx can realize this via an MDG
Currently, everything should be agile, fast and should not involve too much time and effort. Is this really a good direction? Or maybe we should not give up our good habits and skills. Let's see what happens if we combine the classic approach with the agile one - is it at odds? I will try to show that not necessarily. What's more, both can draw from each other. It is important to use good tools such as Prolaborate, which combines these features.
The ROKS mission will provide a CubeSat demonstrating the required technology for a responsive quantum key distribution service. We utilise Enterprise Architect for its flexibility in making design iterations and maintaining project organisation.
In this seminar a holistic approach to information modeling is presented using Enterprise Architect. Information models are often stable and can be used for many purposes such as managing information security classification, definitions of the business meaning, mapping legacy data, seeding models using transformation and cloning to support agile development just to name a few.
Sharing EA diagrams in digital knowledge management platforms such as Confluence or SharePoint and keeping them updated is an integral task in digital documentation. However, this has always been a manual effort. Sparx Prolaborate redefines this and enables publishing live architecture information straight from your Enterprise Architect models to your Confluence or SharePoint pages.
We will be looking at the various capabilities of Confluence/SharePoint integration, FAQs, and how to get started easily.
