Modeling enterprise architecture with ArchiMate is well supported in Enterprise Architect. However when the modelling is done by a large team of modelers (working on multiple locations) new challenges arise. How do we standardize the ArchiMate models, what are the viewpoints, how to apply patterns and building blocks and how can we make modelling fun. In this presentation we present the case of Dictu in the Netherlands where we successfully introduced an approached based on Enterprise Architect, ModelExpert and the IDEA AddOn
The challenge of maintaining model quality and consistency grows exponentially as our models and modelling teams grow. This presentation will offer an approach to find and fix problems, and help your team model right first time.
The use of MDGs is widespread in EA and many companies develop their own MDGs to model their Metamodel. In this talk, Phil will share his experience of developing many such MDGs over the years.
Highlights of the talk include:
The best approach when designing and developing an MDG
Should an existing Metamodel be extended or is it better to start from scratch?
Common traps / pitfalls and how to avoid them
Tricks with Shapescripts
Implementing Quicklink rules using Stereotype relationships and meta-constraints
Filtering a MetaModel using View Specifications
Many IT leaders feel that, while their budget is growing, they cannot allocate enough resources toward innovation. In this lecture we will show how the Sparx modeling platform can be used to identify the pain points of a portfolio, plan a road map and monitor it over time.
Take a look at the new Inspector and Collaborate windows, perhaps dynamic charts and highlight a few new collaboration features with the PCS in more detail.
Let me give you demo of 3 useful feaures of Enterprise Architect for your diagrams. I will also tell you tips to maximize effect of these 3 features.
The session would focus on deployment of Sparx Enterprise Architect for an automotive software development project. It would also highlight the features of Enterprise Architect that are used in our solution. Integration EA with other tools, challenges and long term advantages in switching to model based development would be also presented.
Sparx ProCloud Server Custom Integrations – how to extend the range of data accessibility of Sparx ProCloud Server
This presentation provides an introduction to creating a business architecture model within EA using the ArchiMate business layer concepts and notation. An Organisation view is used to communicate the organisation structure and key responsibilities of each business unit or department within the organisation. Then a Business Process Cooperation view explores the internal behaviour of the organisation to facilitate services and products offered to external customers, partners and suppliers.
In this session, Ian will focus on the key issues and decisions that you need to consider when scaling up your modelling team, and shows you how to avoid the common pitfalls.
HTML generation in EA is basic. Often organisations want to have a simple approach on generating configurable HTML generation. In this session we are discussing two different approaches. One is a highly configurable static HTML generator with extensive options for layout modifications. The second is the Web Publication Platform an AddOn for extracting models from a repository
Labnaf is an innovative and highly automated solution for enterprise visualization and transformation. It seamlessly unifies numerous standards and best practices. One meaningful and actionable framework that scales. Customizable in a few clicks.
Unshackle your organisation from deep cultural reservations about putting your EA models (and your IP) in the Cloud, by taking this novel approach to model coproduction with your clients and suppliers. Prove the benefits, overcome the barriers!
An MDG Technology for adding attributes to manage requirements for systems and software engineering projects.
Because UML does not define a requirement element type, Enterprise Architect includes one in the Core Extensions set of elements. SysML includes a requirement element type that expands the EA type with two attributes. In the Guide for Writing Requirements, the INCOSE Requirements Working Group has defined a further expansion of the numbers and types of attributes that need to be considered in requirements engineering. In the software arena, Karl Wiegers has written extensively about software requirements and what you need to know about them. This presentation describes an MDG Technology that addresses the INCOSE recommendations and maps them to Wiegers' recommendations for attributes to capture about your requirements. We will explore both the creation and the use of the extended requirement elements.
Showcase how Sparx EA simplifies BA process
While SparxEA is a comprehensive and highly rated tool, what else the EA function has to do to get full business value from the tool? How can we make the EA eco system "enterprise grade "? In essence, the interplay among the tool, processes, framework and certified professionals completes the picture
Model Add-ins is a recent addition to Sparx Features. These add-ins are more flexible and easy to configure. Distributing model add-ins across the team has been made simpler as everything is modelled and created directly in a repository.
Learn How to create and work with the model based add-ins in a Sparx EA Repository.
In this presentation, Ian will describe how to generate interactive Word documents from your EA models, and use them to automate your model updates.
How to succeed with your modelling approach. This workshop will talk about Metamodel Constraints in EA and how they can be solved with extensions of available features.
This presentation looks at integrating commands into a GUI (Win32) design such that it can trigger signals (state changes) in a state machine. The state machine contains snippets of code to return information back to the interface. Executing the state machine instantiates the GUI design as an interactive dialog on the screen and automates the logic behind the interface in order to make the interface appear to work and simulate a prototype for an application.
We share in 3 simple steps how others did it and they started using and taking advantage of the Sparx EA solution in just 15 days!

GPSSA – From Analogue Enterprise to Cognitive Enterprise – An Architecture driven Digital Transformation Journey
By Alberto de Andrés Ibáñez, Chief Digital Officer | Farook Abbas, Digital Strategy & Governance Specialist, DG Office
Duration: 30 Min
The session will give an overview of how the Enterprise Architecture initiative enabled a complex Digital transformation program at GPSSA. The session will showcase how GPSSA’s envisaged Vision and Goals were accomplished by designing the Capabilities, Processes and Systems, while maintaining alignment with the legacy operations.
In the talk, we will try to understand the mechanisms of modeling, why and when it is helpful and finally the actual value of modeling.
It may sounds abstract, but without understanding what the concrete and graspable value of modeling, you will always struggle in argumentation, why your company should invest time and budget in modeling.
This webinar will outline the security and safety challenges arising from the way how the systems are currently being developed. You will get an understanding of the need for change in terms of potential security threats prediction.
Code generation for embedded targets from behavioural models.
“Modeling based on Feature Branches”
Learn how to generate database access APIs from a domain model, to generate functional UI code from EA wireframes, and how to link the screens to the database API.
BIAN Service Landscape as a Practice Framework to enable a Capability Model. From Concept to Design for Agility in Banking Industry. Using the best of The ITABoK of Iasa Global, The TOGAF® of The Open Group, and ArchiMate® Models
introducing SAFe, a practical approach towards agile architecture, the importance of modeling and tool support, and how Sparx can realize this via an MDG
Currently, everything should be agile, fast and should not involve too much time and effort. Is this really a good direction? Or maybe we should not give up our good habits and skills. Let's see what happens if we combine the classic approach with the agile one - is it at odds? I will try to show that not necessarily. What's more, both can draw from each other. It is important to use good tools such as Prolaborate, which combines these features.
The ROKS mission will provide a CubeSat demonstrating the required technology for a responsive quantum key distribution service. We utilise Enterprise Architect for its flexibility in making design iterations and maintaining project organisation.
In this seminar a holistic approach to information modeling is presented using Enterprise Architect. Information models are often stable and can be used for many purposes such as managing information security classification, definitions of the business meaning, mapping legacy data, seeding models using transformation and cloning to support agile development just to name a few.
Sharing EA diagrams in digital knowledge management platforms such as Confluence or SharePoint and keeping them updated is an integral task in digital documentation. However, this has always been a manual effort. Sparx Prolaborate redefines this and enables publishing live architecture information straight from your Enterprise Architect models to your Confluence or SharePoint pages.
We will be looking at the various capabilities of Confluence/SharePoint integration, FAQs, and how to get started easily.
