“Sparx Systems, a year in review” looking at the industry from us and our partners perspectives as well as what products and enhancements have been released over the past 12 months including EA 16.1 and EA SaaS.
In this session we will show you how the various offerings in the Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect Eco System can give you the best modeling workflows on the planet.
We will showcase how to change models with GitHub Flow, review and comment model changes with Prolaborate and validate your modeling using the IncQuery Validator – and finally approve change with the concept of pull requests!
Are you ready?
Models, and modelling teams, are getting larger. And models are getting more complex, which makes it even harder to get real business value from the modelling we do. In this session Ian will look at 3 new techniques for getting more value from your modelling: making sense of the data you have imported, understanding the implications of the connections you've made, and making it easier to deliver these new insights to the people who need them.
“In this talk Daniel will showcase how lessons learned from Software Engineering can be used for all types of modeling domains! Keep changes to your models under control and enable your organization to consume models as easy as possible.Expect a rather extensive demo including EA, GitHub, LemonTree, Polarion, Pro Cloud Server and of course Prolaborate.”
Principiles from 1953++ adapted for nowadays needs – achievable only with architecture (using EA of course)
“APM is a major architecture use case , a unified view of the Applications is essential to provide the necessary insights to monitor IT investments, risks, obsolescence, Total cost of ownership , deployment type and much more.
This session will go over a structured approach, complete with pre-defined templates (to load data from Excel and other sources), tools, and dashboards, that is available in the Sparx Platform to assist teams in getting started with APM and providing the necessary insights to stakeholders.”
In this session, the presenters, Nathalie Pelser (ATT MX EA Director) and Chris Armstrong (SSNA President/Chief Architect), will discuss the journey of modernizing the EA practice at ATT Mexico started in 2022. In addition to establishing a new EA practice based on industry standards and best practices (TOGAF, ArchiMate, TM Forum Open Digital Framework), ATT MX also established a cloud-based implementation of their EA repository -- Empresarial Repositorio de Arquitectura (ERA-MX) -- using Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect, Pro Cloud Server, and Prolaborate. This session will focus on the implementation of the Sparx Systems Architecture Platform that includes a custom integration with ServiceNow APM, PPM, SAfe, and CMDB modules.
Do you love Enterprise Architect but always return to your favorite general-purpose drawing tool to create diagrams for your business audience? In this session, you will learn to use Enterprise Architect to create compelling and beautiful diagrams that will delight your non-technical audiences.
“In Japan, there is a notation called “Process Flow Diagram” (PFD) to visualize and manage the system/software development process. By using PFD, we can find and define the best process. In this session I will introduce the features and main rules of the PFD. Then, I will give you steps to define your best process with PFD.”
Application Portfolio Management (APM) offers a way to publish IT assets used by business and technology. Our accelerator offers a structure to capture the information through a set of attributes and provide quick insights for decision making depending on the organization priority. While it sounds simple, more often than not, architects, IT leadership can speed up this process using frameworks and decision trees that we offer simplifies the effort to populate APM with high confidence data. Conceive | Execute | Sustain – APM for precise insights and timely decisions.
Learn how to create a conceptual data model with examples from Industry, Government, and Enterprise, including Courts, Legal, Insurance, Banking, Travel, Manufacturing, Sales & Marketing, Humanitarian, Media, and Police.
“The main value of common repository is to be one source of the truth for many stakeholders and participants of the realized initiaves. It means different languages (notations) in one place - real Babel Tower.
How to organize information and how navigate in such sophisticated environment keep simplicity and purity of the information? I'll try to explain my approach and share some ideas based on Enterprise Architecture perspective modeled in ArchiMate 3.1, Business Domain perspective described by BPMN 2.0 and finally get to the conclusion on project level with UML modeling.
To provide well understanding of the ide I'll use Prolaborate as a tool for knowledge sharing and engaging all participants. ...audience too will be welcomed to be involved in!”
One of the most frequent challenges our clients who use Enterprise Architect (EA) is producing *.docx and *pdf documents using EA’s built-in documentation generation especially when those documents have to conform to an organisation’s branding style. This session will focus on getting the documentation generation basics correct. Specifically, the session will cover, through worked examples:
- Options available for documentation generation.
- Types of document templates
- Creating and testing a basic template
- How repository structure can affect template creation
- Analysing a document to determine how many templates are required including a Cover Page
- Options for combining templates including Master / Model Documents and Custom Documents
- Examining a document to determine content, layout, fonts and styles
- Creating and using a Style Sheet to apply styles to templates
- Managing numbered headings using List Overrides
During this presentation Han will talk about the approach that was initiated in the beginning of this year to find another way of working, modelling and publication of analysis and data exchange standards within the container shipping industry. He will connect business analysis with data and REST Apis. After presenting the previous situation the new situation is shown by using EA and Prolaborate. Topics to be presented are BPMN, Use Case and API modelling and the lineage between the various elements to prove completeness and correctness. Publication of the models improve the consistency between the different design layers as well as early feedback by the various business analysts and developers of the various container shipping companies.
This presentation considers the creation of organisation-wide enterprise architecture models for larger companies. We will explore the importance of a well-defined metamodel and set of operational guidelines, and reflect on the need to take an iterative approach to constructing essential viewpoints that can gradually be combined into a central model to create a holistic understanding of the company’s current and future architecture.
Presentation of CIO’s digital enterprise management cockpit that summarizes KPIs from different angles, then dive into more detailed dashboards including capability heat maps, systems’ availability, application lifecycle, 360° view on sensible information usage, strategic planning, project governance etc. Explain how data feeds dashboards using the unified metamodel, virtual catalogs, rule-based imports, implicit connectors generation, implicit properties generation, cascaded calculations, diagram generation, time series consolidations, time series chart generation, Labnaf scripting and scheduling.
The United States Center for Medicare & Medicaid services is the government agency responsible for administering the largest healthcare benefits programs in the country. As a federal agency, there is an expectation for robust enterprise architecture while balancing issues of scalability, sustainability and security. In this session, we will discuss the transition strategy and implementation of the CMS EA tool suite. The presenters will speak about the challenges, innovations and processes used to successfully implement the Sparx Systems architecture platform.

”Along our experience working with several companies and institutions, we have noticed that some complications are repeated in the implementation process of the SparxEA solution. This sometimes happens because we do not have a working model that allows a gradual and incremental incorporation of the solution, taking into account the type of organization and its maturity stage at the moment of starting the implementation.
We will see 3 recurring difficulties and how to solve them:
- Inconveniences to reuse all existing information.
- Impossibility of keeping the models updated over time
- Poor collaboration between the modelers and the rest of the stakeholders.
We will share real cases and ways in which these difficulties were successfully solved.”
1.Model RestFul services -direct engineering-.
2.Generate OpenAPI specification in json format.
3.Import OpenAPI services in json format -reverse engineering-.
OpenAPI is very broad and flexible which makes that taking that specification to a model in EA is not something simple, besides the elements available for modeling are limited because we follow a simple model of classes, interfaces, operations, parameters and returns.
Therefore, we want to share a solution that helps to make these models in a simple, intuitive and productive way. In addition, we will present how the json/yaml is generated.
Also, we will present the model generated by importing an OpenAPI specification.
